Grounded by George Brant / Copenhagen
‘Grounded’ is a powerful one-woman play that delves into the life of a fighter pilot whose career takes an unexpected turn. Written by George Brant, the play examines themes of identity, motherhood, and the psychological impact of modern warfare. Through its intense monologue, ‘Grounded’ challenges audiences to reflect on the blurred lines between reality and duty, making it a significant piece in contemporary theatre.
Don’t miss GROUNDED, the critically acclaimed play by George Brant, playing until April 5th. Following its past week performances, the drama, which explores the life of a fighter pilot turned drone operator, captivated audiences and critics alike with its timely and thought-provoking narrative.
CPH Culture lauded the production as one of the most “shockingly relevant theater offerings” today, and praised Dina Rosenmeier’s performance as The Pilot for being “astonishing.” The review described her portrayal as a “nervously shaken paranoid soldier” and emphasized how Rosenmeier brilliantly takes the character through a profound transformation from a confident female pilot to a woman haunted by the moral consequences of her actions. The publication states, “Thanks to Dina Rosenmeier’s astounding performance,” the audience becomes acutely aware of the costs modern warfare exacts on ordinary people. Rosenmeier’s portrayal was described as the “nervously beating heart” of the English-language production, underlining her central role in delivering the emotional core of the play.
Iscene highlighted the psychological intensity of the performance, calling it a “gripping and disturbing” journey where the audience witnesses the protagonist’s “total transformation” as she switches from flying high in the skies to remotely controlling warfare from a screen. The publication states that Rosenmeier’s performance “forces the audience to reckon with the personal cost of war,” noting that her portrayal is “both fragile and fierce,” skillfully capturing her character’s internal conflict.
Pov International 📰 echoed these sentiments, describing the production as “a powerful portrayal of modern warfare that brings the war into our living rooms.” The review emphasized that Dina Rosenmeier’s performance is “unforgettable,” capturing the disillusionment and struggle of The Pilot with a sense of urgency that is both moving and intense.
The reviews collectively emphasize how GROUNDED explores themes of isolation, morality, and the disconnect between soldiers and the wars they fight. As the protagonist’s reality becomes increasingly detached from the physical world, the tension mounts, making for a gripping theater experience that resonates long after the final curtain.
George Brant’s GROUNDED quickly became a must-see performance of 2025, demonstrating the power of theater to provoke, engage, and reflect the complexities of modern society.

Dina Rosenmeier 'The Pilot'

“When the director offered me the role of Jess, an F16 pilot I was both thrilled and terrified, as this will be my first ever 90 min solo performance. However even if I felt nervous to accept the role, the theme of George Brants play is simply so important that I felt compelled to put all fears aside and just go for it. It saddens me deeply that the world is still affected by wars today, when all focus should be on protecting the population, providing education for all children, eliminating inequality, poverty and hunger. And finally in my opinion the only ‘battle’ that ought to take place today is one against climate change. The ultimate morale of the play very much resonates with my personal beliefs and it is an absolute honour to participate in this important production.“ – Dina Rosenmeier

What Our Audience Says
“Havde en pragtfuld aften i går. Og hvis du kender en medborger i København og omegn, der ikke taler dansk, så er der en kulturoplevelse på engelsk lige her. Teaterstykket “Grounded”, om det amerikanske “chairforce”, der sidder dagen lang og flyver droner ind over mål i fremmede lande. Dina Rosenmeier er en fænomenal skuespiller og simpelthen så dygtig.”– Anne Sofie Allarp / Journalist
“I cried … and I am a tough cookie. Thank you for a strong and gripping performance – Dina Rosenmeier is fabulous !” – Vibeke Muasya Film Director
